Herzog & de Meuron for Feltrinelli

The Feltrinelli foundation in Porta Nuova, the first Italian building designed by Herzog & de Meuron, is part of an important urban regeneration plan projects.

 

 

The project of Herzog & de Meuron for Feltrinelli in Milan has redefined the appearance and functionality of a part of the city that has never been retrained since the bombing of 1943, and today has become one of the contemporary monuments of the city. 

 

The prestigious signature of Herzog & de Meuron has brought in the foundation's projects a reference that used by Aldo Rossi before, inspired by the buildings to the classic Lombard farms for long and linear development.

 

The intention of Herzog & de Meuron for the Feltrinelli foundation was to create a project able to create dialogue between tradition and modernity, surprisingly being simple and "normal".
For a project like this from the great media and cultural eco, nothing was left to chance and the interiors are complemented by furniture and valuable systems.

 

The interior spaces of these twin buildings, which house the foundation and Microsoft Italy, were completed with: the UniFor furniture and the partition systems for offices; The seating system and  sofas of Vitra for waiting and meeting rooms; Dada kitchens for break zones.

 

The Dada kitchens are part of this prestigious setting with minimal aesthetics and extreme care on choosing the material, in this case Corian is for the top and for the rise of the kitchen.
